Giveaway - Hand-Dyed Threads from Colour Complements!

Earlier this week, Lorraine from Colour Complements wrote to ask if we'd be interested in doing a giveaway of her lovely hand-dyed threads - well yes, absolutely!

Aren't they amazing? Part of me would like to snap them up just to stare at them, and not do any stitching with them at all!

I mean really, how gorgeous are they?

Lorraine hand-dyes DMC perle cotton in sizes #5, #8, #12, and her Etsy shop also features fibers like silks, rayon, and other deliciously sparkly stuff.

I think you'll agree her shop is like a candy store for thread-lovers!

One lucky Feeling Stitchy reader will receive the 5 threads of your choice! Just leave a comment on this post by Friday, August 22, when I will choose one random winner. This giveaway is open to all of our readers!

In your comment, please tell us which of her threads is your favorite, and what you think you'd stitch with it!

Hi, I'm floresita, editor of Feeling Stitchy. I'm an avid stitcher, knitter, and crafter. You can see more of my stitching on Instagram and my blog. My vintage transfer collection is on Vintage Transfer Finds.

Feel free to email me with any ideas for the blog!

  1. I love #7! I'd really like to sew up an aquatic background with it.

  2. So many gorgeous threads! One of many that really caugh my eye was the Perle Cotton size 5 #10. Not sure what I'd make with it as it's not a yarn I often use. Perhaps some simple needle darning or sashiko, maybe beading (with clear or lightly tinted transparent beads). I like the effects when crocheting or embroidering with transparent beads on multi-coloured threads. Had it been more floral colours, I'd say french knots for an abstract garden scene as I've been meaning to try that for ages.

  3. I had too much trouble picking my favorite, so I let my four year old pick. She picked Perle Cotton size 12 #17. :-) I'm not sure what I'd make, but I think it would be for her!

  5. What beautiful colours. My favourite is Perle no. 5 which I use a lot both for embroidery (currently embroidering what will eventually be a cushion cover all in knotted chain stitch) and also for needlepoint - the thread size is just about perfect for a 14 count canvas.

  6. Wow! They are all so luscious and look like a delight to stitch with. How can you choose between them. I have to say though that the perle cotton 3rd from the top of your post really "sings"!!

I would love Perle Cotton Size 8 #14 Multi coloured greens and rainbow as this is the one my daughter kept pointing to and I would like to do her name (Ksenia, possible with the rest, Amber Tansy Morganna) if there is enough thread! 22. I think #57 is my favorite, but all of them are lovely. With gorgeous variegated threads I usually like to stitch an abstract design, or just use a favorite stitch, to let the colors shine. But maybe with this color I'd embroider a calavera with lots of floral detail.
