Hi everybody! Mr X Stitch and I have always had a special place in our hearts for stitching in public places. Mr X started stitching because he needed something to keep him occupied on a long plane trip, and he often stitches on the train when commuting back and forth to London, as you can see here.
And I've learned to enjoy it as well.
So of course we just HAVE to spread the word about Stitch in Public Day, which is happening tomorrow - Friday, September 3rd! *Cheers! Fanfare!*
We're both going to stitch in public tomorrow, and we'd love it if you would, too.
What if you can't make it happen tomorrow, you say? That's okay, because really, EVERY DAY should be stitching in public day, don't you think? In fact, we created this new Flickr group as a way to celebrate stitching in public. There's already some pretty awesome shots in there already, like this one from Lisa's Tea Time:
but we'd love to have more. :) AND we're going to make it worth your while, because one lucky person who adds a picture to the group before the end of the day on Friday, September 10th will receive a set of holographic threads, courtesy of Kreinik Threads! The winner will be chosen at random from the pictures in the group (excluding myself and Mr X of course) and will be announced that weekend at Mr X Stitch.
Pretty! :) So stitch in public, snap a pic, and add it to the Stitching in Public group - you'll be glad you did!
I'm in! :)

I can't wait! Normally I stitch at my son's gymnastics class but he doesn't have it tomorrow so I will have to go somewhere else.
ReplyDeleteWonderfull! I'm a stitching-in-public addicted! I'l try! But... where public the photos? On flickr? It's required to register?
ReplyDeleteI stitched on the train and the Docklands Light Railway this morning on my commute to work! No photographs though, and no sign of any other stitchers. :0(
ReplyDeleteI'm a stitcher in public to (although I get some odd looks), waiting outside two lots of dance class per week would be hell otherwise, but no classes for another week, so I'll be with you all in spirit instead!
ReplyDeleteI love to stitch in public!!especially my hexies.I just never get pics..maybe today I will. Thanks,Amy
ReplyDeleteoh i love to stitch in public, specifially at the laundromat while i'm waiting for my clothes or on my lunch break. I feel like if I'm sitting around doing nothing, I'm just wasteing possible stitching time!!
ReplyDeleteI'm a proud public stitcher! Hey Mr X -- can you still stitch on airplanes? I fly a lot, but have been too worried about security (scissors, etc) to try.
ReplyDeleteIt seems I used to get more stitching done when I had kids in school and extra curricular activities!! My favorite stitching is outdoors because I can See!!
ReplyDeletequestion.
ReplyDeletewhat do you use as sissors on an airplane. is there a size of kind that gets past customs?
I like this idea, but won't be in public for days. Still, stitch on!
ReplyDeleteJody
Hey, Tea Potty - You can stitch on a plane, you just need to have scissors that meet the requirements. My understanding is the blade has to be less than 3 inches. This is a good brand, they advertise that they are safe for use on a plane:
