It's not finished yet but there is already so much to see and love on this Doodle Fish embroidered by Mary Corbet from Needle 'n Thread. I love how the doodled patterns in combination with the Black work embroidery give the image a very graphic quality, like a wonderful old book illustration. Can't wait to see Doodle Fish finished!
p.s. do check out Mary's Video Library of Stitches! Thanks to Mary's excellent video tutorial I managed to master the French Knot when I was an embroidery newbie.
Thanks, Nicole, for the write-up!
ReplyDeleteI'm So Glad you like the fish! I wasn't quite sure of this project when I first started it, but the more I work on it, the more I like it.
I'm hoping to make a lot of progress on this over the weekend. It's heaps of fun to translate a doodle (like a "zentangle") into embroidery!
Needle 'n Thread is such an incredible resource !
ReplyDeleteThat is fabulous!!! Great meditation work.
ReplyDeletei love it ! i dont even think it should be "finished" i like having the contour lines contrasting the details - i do this alot in my drawings...
ReplyDeleteLove it! I agree with Sharon - it looks great just as it is right now :)

ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic! Mary's website has taught me all that I know about stitching. I go to it whenever I can't seem to remember how to do a stitch. Those videos are PERFECT!
ReplyDeleteThis is stunning!! Very inspiring!
ReplyDeleteI agree that it shouldn't be finished. It is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteWhoa! Now that is some embroidered black work! The diversity in your lines is a feast for my eyes. Sometimes color is over rated.
