Stitched by j_q_adams
I'd like to introduce John, a super-talented quilter and embroiderer who you may know from his blog, Quilt Dad, and from the numerous swaps and projects he's involved in. On Flickr, he goes by j_q_adams, and you know we're thrilled to have a manbroiderer on Feeling Stitchy! :)
Here's a mini-interview with John, so you can get to know him better...
What will you be blogging on? To start, I'll be alternating between two topics: the work and people in the world of "manbroidery" (i.e. men that stitch!), and posts about what happens at the intersection of quilting and embroidery (hint: lots of beautiful, cool things!)
Your favorite DMC floss color? I'm still trying a bunch of colors out for the first time, but I really enjoy working with the DMC variegated colors. Lately, I've been loving the combination of 597, 747, and 3032 that I used on a recent project.
Your favorite embroidery project?
I just finished up two pieces for a Flickr friend that have quickly become my favorites:
But I have a few more things in the works, so stay tuned ... !
Your inspirations?
Absolutely my #1 source for inspiration is Flickr: namely the Embroidery and Hand Stitched groups, as well as some uber-talented Flickr friends like cathygaubert, GeorgiaMcDonald, Follow the White Bunny, comfortstitching, ritapizza, and countless others. I also continue to be amazed by the talent on Craftster and look to people like rectangel, IamSusie, kittykill, and the members of the Tea Towel Tours for inspiration. Finally, I love to search for embroidery patterns on Etsy to find new & unique ideas. My favorite Etsy sellers include Andrea Zuill / Badbird, Cate Anevski, and Emily Martin / The Black Apple. Oh yeah, and I can't forget the Feeling Stitchy blog!!
