Perle Cotton Obsessed......
Seriously, if you were offered a deal to purchase these at 50 cents per, how many would you buy? I gleefully carried 57 spools home like a six year old with a candy bag.......I couldn't wait to sort them out and find a place where they would show off so handsomely. My current wool and fabric store that carried them closed and I was beginning to panic as to where to find them. My favorite quilt shop in Northern Wisconsin was discontinuing their Italian brand of perle cotton . I wanted to buy them all---would you have felt funny doing that? I wondered if I was showing an obsession or being smart.......we fabric, floss lovers do look obsessed at times, don't we? Look at our stashes.....lol. Of course, now I have to justify my purchase by lots and lots of embroidery........I am so upset...........not. What is the most floss /thread you have purchased at one time?

so. very. jealous! enjoy them in good health11
ReplyDeleteI would have done the same thing, being an obsessed fabric hoarder!! The colors are heavenly!
ReplyDeleteOh. My. God! That is awesome! Lucky, lucky you! :-)
ReplyDeleteWhen the shop I worked in shut down (Woolworths in the UK went bust!) I managed to lay my hands on a box full of sewing thread... I think there were some 230 of them... Definitely the most thread I've ever bought! :-)
I'm impressed with your restraint! I would have gone wild wild wild.
ReplyDeleteI think the most floss I have ever bought at one time was my first time at Michael's. I bought 126 skeins, at 49 cents a pop! I was on vacation in Canada and had received some stitching books so I had no choice but to go crazy with floss. :D
Ooooh how fun!!! So was this shop in Northern Wisconsin too? Was there any left? I might have to talk the hubby into a trip up to his mom's cabin! :D
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to hear that I'm not alone.
ReplyDeleteI posted a picture of part of my big floss purchase on my Flickr account and blog (distractedmuse is the user name).
I think I paid about $.04 per skein, so I couldn't resist. The woman I purchased from had more than twice this amount left for her personal stash (something like 5000 skeins).
Ohhhh...heavenly. My conscience would have made me leave a couple behind but I can see myself clearing them out. :-D
ReplyDeleteThat look so amazing! What a deal. I would have done the same thing! The floss looks beautiful all together...strutting their stuff!
ReplyDeleteamazing
ReplyDelete:D
Aww... I'm so jealous! I probably would have done the same...
ReplyDeleteI'd have snapped them up too. There's nothing nicer than a good thread collection.
ReplyDeletethey look so colorful!!
ReplyDeletei recently bought a floss lot off from ebay... more than 200 skeins for 20 bucks!!!!
what a fantastic score!
ReplyDeleteWhere? Where? I think you showed remarkable restraint. Is it anywhere near Baraboo or Madison???
ReplyDeleteHolly Guacamole! You lucky stitcher you!!
ReplyDeleteAre there any left? Can we order via internet? I love a bargain!
The most floss I have ever purchased at one time was all the DMC colours. Remember when there used to be ads on the back of mags that sold all 424 (and at that time that was all of them!) DMC colours? Never regretted it!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Kerry
What a gorgeous photo- made me pant a little!
ReplyDeleteI came home with a garbage bag full when a friend told me to take whatever I wanted- she had cleared out her mother's needlecraft shop. Most of it was wool, but I also got flower cotton and some floss. I love having it- every time I look at it, I remember opening a new box of crayons and enjoying having ALL the colors :-)
Wauw - take me there, please..... Have a nice weekend.

ReplyDeleteWonderful! I say that, because I know you will use them. Collecting is different than hoarding. You are a collector!
ReplyDeleteI love to find vintage embroidery floss, and even newer floss at sales. I find going through them, winding them on spools, and sorting them to be very therapeutic.
deal! you shouldnt feel bad ;o/
ReplyDeleteall i can say is, is how far from northeastern illinois is that store!!! i would love to see them piled in a huge jar!
I'd have bought them! Esp. pearl cotton, because that's what I use the most.
ReplyDeleteMy biggest purchase was one skein of each color of DMC. That was a bit pricey ;)

ReplyDeleteha ha! Thats amazing...i have the same obsession and woul die to find that hoard for 50c each, damn! Perle is so nice aswell...cute blog btw
ReplyDeleteYou only bought 57?! A true exhibit of self-control, lol!
